I first met Christie Jones Ray at one of Nicki Franklin’s workshops at her studio in Northampton last year and knew I wanted to make a gift for her to take back to Tennessee.
I’d just started making the acrylic and wooden needle minders that included French inspired linens. To make the needle minder extra special for Christie, I decided to use a piece of fabric that I’d brought away with me after attending another one of Nicki’s workshops. This time with Sue Stichbury.
Christie told me that was her first needle minder and has continued to share it over and over again on her Instagram account. So many people asked if they were available, so I decided to dig through my stash of fabric and found a small piece.
This means there are limited quantities.
The minder measures approximately 4 cm in diameter. It comes with a small scalloped piece of wood with a Neodymium magnet measuring 1 cm (0.39″) glued to the back, which attaches to the screw through the centre of the minder.
The needle minders are handmade. Due to how the pattern is cut, each needle minder will be unique and therefore not a 100% match to the photographs.
Please be aware that these magnets should be kept away from children and people fitted with pacemakers.
