Description
For English Paper Piecing, acrylic hexagon templates are invaluable. They are probably one of the most common shapes we use for English Paper Piecing. Commonly known as hexies.
English Paper Piecing originated in England in the 1770s. A method where each piece of fabric is wrapped around thin pieces of heavy paper or thin paper cardboard, which are then stitched together by hand to create a patchwork. You can read more about it here.
This acrylic hexagon template in particular helps you create multiple 1.25 inch sided hexagons for EPP.
You can draw four hexagons at the correct size, using a fabric pen.
The hexagons have a 1 1/4 inch side, which leaves you with a 1/4″ seam allowance when it comes to basting them to your 1″ paper pieces.
With the tool being made from clear acrylic, you can make full use of your fabric too, which leaves little waste.
Overall the tool measures 8.5 inches in width and 5 inches in height.
